A funding partnership between the Randal Foundation and the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland will see the launch of a new fund for local groups who are working to address local poverty or in the field of supporting women and children at risk of immediate harm.
The Randal Foundation works to deliver the vision of Founders, Dr Nik and Moni Kotecha – saving and significantly improving the lives of 1 million people, across the UK and globally working in partnership with inspirational organisations, bringing support and essential funding to both create opportunity and foster hope, for those in greatest need.
In partnership with the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland grants are available to support grassroots activity that directly save or significantly improve lives, in line with the Randal Foundation’s mission.
Speaking today Órla Black, Director of Grants and Fund Development said:
“We are delighted to announce that a new fund, built around organisations addressing local poverty or in the field of supporting women and children at risk of immediate harm.
“These are two priority areas for both the Community Foundation and the Randal Foundation. Unfortunately, both of these issues are much too prevalent in Northern Ireland.
“Over 330,000 live in relative income poverty locally whilst child poverty is at a staggering rate of 23%. In terms of violence against women and girls, since 2020, at least 28 women and girls have been violently killed in Northern Ireland.
“These figures are shocking, and we hope that through this fund we can play our part in supporting work to see real and meaningful change.
“The Randal Foundation Small Grants programme will provide small grants of up to £3,000 targeted towards project costs, for registered charities, community groups, or not-for-profit organisations operating in Northern Ireland.”
Dr Nik Kotecha, speaking on behalf of the Randal Foundation added:
“We are extremely pleased to provide our support and funding to Community Foundation Northern Ireland.
“The Community Foundation plays a vital and influential role in identifying and empowering grassroots organisations that are working tirelessly to address local poverty and to support women and children at risk.
“Through this partnership, we are able to extend our reach into communities where the need is greatest, ensuring that essential resources reach those on the frontline. Their deep understanding of local challenges and their ability to connect with organisations making a measurable difference is invaluable. By supporting this work, we aim to contribute to long-term, positive change in the lives of individuals and families across Northern Ireland.”
