Your Guide To Giving

Your Guide To Giving

Giving Effectively

“To give away money is an easy matter and in any man’s power. But to decide to whom to give it and how large and when, and for what purpose and how, is neither in every man’s power nor an easy matter.” Aristotle

Whatever level of giving you are considering, we provide a range of opportunities and support to ensure that your gift reaches the people and organisations you feel passionate about and who need it most.

Find the causes and issues you care about

Beginning with the causes and issues that you care about, our team can guide you with your giving. Our research and experience, gained over three decades of working with charities and communities across Northern Ireland, can connect you to the people and organisations that are driving change and addressing the social issues that matter.

We can advise you on how to give effectively and with impact. Whether you want to give to a disadvantaged community, support a charity or social enterprise to thrive or invest in a social innovation we’re happy to share our knowledge, support and advice.

Your local centre for philanthropy

Reaching thousands of groups, charities and causes across Northern Ireland we’ve 40 years of experience to share and access to a global network of Community Foundations working at grassroots and at a regional level. Our Endowment ensures that we’ll be here to serve and support the community in Northern Ireland for generations to come.

If you’re considering starting a charitable foundation, or giving collectively with others, leaving a gift in your will or making a one off donation, our team can advise you and match your generosity to need locally.  And because we’re a registered charity, you can donate tax efficiently when you give through us.

Tune in below and hear why and how these giving journeys began.

Start a fund

McCall Foundation

Starting a fund through the Community Foundation is similar to having your own charitable trust or foundation. You gain the benefits of tax efficient giving but do not have the inconvenience of administration, governance, recruiting trustees, auditing accounts and reporting to regulators. We take care of all that.

Whatever your reasons or motivations for giving, it’s quick and easy to start. You can be actively involved or hands off. You can even choose to remain anonymous if you wish. With access to our grants management expertise and community knowledge  you’ll receive advice  on the needs in your areas of interest, full due diligence on all groups as well as regular feedback and reports on how your fund is helping to change lives and make a difference.

Ways of giving

Individuals or Families

One-off or regular donations from income; Starting a named fund; Encouraging giving through the generations; Or leaving a legacy through a gift in your Will.

Corporate Giving

How can your business effectively meet its charitable and corporate social responsibility goals? Starting your own named fund through the Community Foundation can engage customers and staff and provide you with a trusted partner to maximise your giving.

Giving Together

One of the most rewarding ways to give can be to give collectively. Through the Community Foundation you can join with other like minded individuals as a group and make your giving even more effective.
