A giving circle where women give collectively in one-off and regular donations to support women, the Fund provides Individual Bursaries filling a gap in funding opportunities for women who require a small amount of financial aid to support them towards fulfilling their potential.
The Women’s Fund for Northern Ireland was established in March 2012. It aims to support women to overcome barriers preventing them from fulfilling their potential. By providing small bursaries to individuals, the Fund is assisting women from across Northern Ireland to create and develop new opportunities in their own lives, leading to a better life for themselves, their families and the wider community.
To date, we have raised over £65,000 and distributed over £31,000 in bursaries, that have enabled 73 women facing disadvantage and challenging personal circumstances to access opportunities to develop their potential and improve their quality of life. In addition, we have made over £21,400 in grants to 1 organisation to deliver projects benefiting 675 local women.
While not exclusive the Fund welcomes applications for bursaries that address the following;
Priority will be given to applicants living in deprived/disadvantaged areas.
Applicants must be women aged 18 and over, living in Northern Ireland, who are striving to get into or back into employment. Applicants will preferably be affiliated to a constituted community/women’s group and have the support of that organisation, however, if you are not you will still be eligible to apply.
We know that there is still much to do and that there are many more women the fund could help. When you see the difference that actually quite small amounts of input in terms of time and money can make, you see how a fund like this can change lives.
