The Equity in Action Fund has been developed by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland (CFNI) to support grassroots organisations in building stronger, safer, and more informed communities—where truth prevails, hate is challenged, and equity is a lived reality.
Hate. Misinformation. Disinformation. These threats are hurting our communities every day — both online and in real life. But real change starts from the ground up. To achieve this, we must empower local changemakers to respond with courage, clarity, and community.
From small community groups to leading charities, local organisations are already pushing back against rising hate, bias, and false narratives. But they often do so without the tools, training, or support they truly need.
That’s why we’re launching the Equity in Action fund, a bold initiative to support grassroots changemakers tackling hate, bias, and false narratives head-on. We’re equipping local leaders with the resources to build trust, spread truth, and create lasting change.
This proposal is an invitation to be part of a movement, a movement grounded in equity and driven by the belief that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and informed. Together, we can disrupt hate, dismantle falsehoods, and grow equity, from the ground up.
Support the Equity in Action Fund
Every day, people in our communities are facing targeted hate and harmful misinformation, especially those already on the margins. While large-scale systems are slow to move, grassroots organisations are already taking action. Whether hosting workshops, creating safe spaces, launching youth campaigns, calling out disinformation and supporting new communities, resources are needed. The Equity in Action Fund is here to back them with small grants for grassroots activity that can make a real difference.
