Our Vision:

Democratically engaged communities building thriving local food movements that cultivate community resilience and reduce the impacts of climate change  and biodiversity loss.

Project aims

To implement a participatory process that 1) builds local democratic capacity at an individual and community level and 2) helps both communities to  establish themselves as sustainable food places through raising understanding of our food systems and the associated climate impacts, initiating local  carbon-saving food projects and influencing local food policy

By delivering this project we hope to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Strengthening of individuals’ democratic  engagement
  • A deepening of local democracy through enhanced community capacity and confidence in  using local participative and deliberative tools.
  • Communities develop greater knowledge and  understanding of our food systems, the associated  climate impacts and the approaches needed to help  build local resilience against such impacts
  • Communities energised to commence local food  movements as part of preparation for Sustainable  Food Places programme.
  • Reduced contribution to climate change and  biodiversity loss
