Acorn Farm – I Can Grow

  • To build on the skills and knowledge training local people how to grow food at home. Improving awareness of the connection between climate change and food choices.

The Acorn Farm, I can Grow project is calling for families in Derry/Londonderry and Strabane to roll up their sleeves and get planting. No experience needed!  The programme supports families to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Families are given everything they need to grow food at home, learning from horticultural experts to begin the creation of a more sustainable food system throughout the city.

Community Solutions to Housing & Homelessness

The Community Solutions to Housing and Homelessness programme commenced in 2021.  The programme funded by the Oak Foundation, aims to prevent and address the issue of Housing and Homelessness in Northern Ireland by supporting projects which address the root causes of Homelessness and amplifies the voice of lived experience

Northern Ireland Human Rights Fund

  • Background to the Northern Ireland Human Rights Fund

    The Northern Ireland Human Rights Fund was established in 2015 with the purpose of helping to sustain human rights work in Northern Ireland.

    Four independent Human Rights organisations originally received support during this time, namely:

    • Practice & Participation of Rights
    • Committee on the Administration of Justice
    • Public Interest Ligation Support
    • Human Rights Consortium

The Northern Ireland Human Rights Fund (NIHRF) is a collaborative Fund working to advance a fairer and more equal society where the human rights of all are protected.  It also supports the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland’s Social Justice Fund. Applications to the Human Rights Fund are by invite only, and unsolicited applications will not be considered.

Nothing About Us Without Us (NAUWU)

  • Our ambitious programme, award winning programme, is dedicated to empowering women who lack a voice or opportunity. We aim to boost their confidence, capacity, and capability, ensuring they are seen, heard, and appreciated in today’s society.

The NAUWU programme’s mission is to create a society in Northern Ireland where women are visible, vocal, and valued. We strive for equitable involvement in decision-making processes that impact their lives.

International Fund for Ireland’s Peace Impact Programme (PIP)

  • PIP aims to build sustainable peace and prosperity in areas suffering from high levels of economic and social deprivation, where there are low levels of engagement in peace building and where the Peace Process has delivered limited benefits.

Launched in 2013, PIP is designed to deliver real and positive community transformation through sensitive interventions in communities that have not previously, or only partially, participated in peace building and reconciliation activities. These interventions are critical to building a truly integrated, shared and peaceful society.

The Community Foundation acts as the Managing Agents for the programme.  The programme is not open for general applications.  Applications are on a solicited basis only.

Civic Innovation Programme

  • Open to all voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations working in Northern Ireland, as well as public sector representatives and interested individuals, the programme is supporting projects that can deliver greater public influence over key societal issues as well as demonstrating how a more participative and deliberative model of democracy can build a better Northern Ireland for everyone.

Civic Innovation Programme supports innovative ideas and approaches that put people at the centre of decision-making in Northern Ireland.

 

Techies in Residence

  • The Techies in Residence programme supports both VCSE organisations and Techies to adopt a design thinking approach to explore a social challenge, putting the service user at the centre of the experience.

Techies in Residence is focused on creating powerful change within communities through digital technology by utilising a person-centred design thinking approach.

Community Innovators

  • Priorities:
  • All organisations who complete the Community Innovators Programme will be eligible to apply for a grant from the Foundation’s Social Innovation Seed Fund to help them deliver the idea or ideas they develop through participation in the programme.

The Community Innovators programme is for voluntary, community or social enterprise organisations who would like support to explore and develop new solutions to a real world social, economic or environmental challenge.
